Three series on climate and greenhouse gases: world CO2 emissions, CO2 emissions per capita, and methane emissions.

The emissions figures are production-based — they count what was burned inside a country's borders and exclude emissions generated abroad in making its imports. Countries that host manufacturing for others look larger, and countries that moved production offshore look smaller. Reading the total and the per-capita rankings together changes the picture of responsibility considerably: China leads the total by a wide margin but sits near the developed-country level per person, while small Gulf producers dominate the per-capita table.
