Education

Three series on education: government education spending as a share of GDP, gross secondary enrolment and gross tertiary enrolment.

The two enrolment series share a quirk worth knowing. Gross enrolment divides enrolled students by the population of the official age group, so repeaters and adults returning to study push the figure above 100%. All 16 countries with a 2024 secondary value are above 100%, from Monaco at 158.55% down to Estonia at 108.54%. A reading of 158% does not mean 1.6 students per place.
