Owid
Twenty-one rankings sourced through Our World in Data, covering CO2 and methane emissions, coal and oil production, generation by source, agricultural output, homicide and incarceration rates. The underlying originals differ by field — FAO, the Energy Institute, Ember, UNODC.
OWID series tend to run long: CO2 emissions reach back to 1750 and methane to 1850. But the early years carry very few countries — 1750 for CO2 consists of the United Kingdom alone. A "first place" drawn at the left edge does not mean world leader; it means the highest among the countries that have a value that year.
