Thirty-five rankings sourced from World Bank data, spanning GDP, population, life expectancy, fertility, unemployment, education, health, infrastructure and the environment. The underlying originals vary by indicator — IMF balance of payments statistics, UNESCO, WHO, UN IGME, SIPRI.

Watch for gaps caused by late reporting. Many indicators thin out towards the latest year: education spending has 27 countries with a value in 2020 but only 9 in 2024. In those cases the latest-year ranking is not a ranking of the top 30 but of the handful of countries that had reported by then.
